Rosemary Beach Fishing

There are plenty of fish in the sea! While this statement usually applies to the dating world after the end of a relationship, it also applies to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the nearby dune lakes of Rosemary Beach. If you’re chartering a trip, many companies provide the necessary gear, including bait and tackle, and some even provide the proper Florida state fishing license. Before booking, make sure you know what’s provided, and secure the proper license or gear before heading out to go Rosemary Beach fishing.

Inshore Fishing

Stay close to the shore and fish the waters of the Intercoastal Waterway, Choctawhatchee Bay, Santa Rosa Sound, and closer to shore along the Gulf. Your catch may include redfish, speckled or white trout, flounder, sheepshead, bluefish, or ladyfish.

Nearshore Fishing

Your nearshore trip heads out six to nine miles into the Gulf of Mexico. Expect to hook a variety of snapper, triggerfish, crevalle jack, mahi-mahi, king mackerel, and many others.

Fly Fishing

The flats, inlets, feeder creeks, bayous, and other more serene locations and full of redfish, tarpon, speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, pompano, and crevalle jack. Casting a line in areas like the narrows of Ft. Walton and the mouth of the Choctawhatchee River might be on the itinerary as well.

Deep Sea & Shark Fishing

Go further from shore and out to deeper waters with a deep-sea fishing excursion. The variety of fish is large, and you’ll never know what to find at the end of your line. Up the adrenaline of your fishing excursion with shark fishing. Sharks are fish, and there are some companies in Rosemary Beach and the surrounding area will take you out to sea in search of one. Most excursions take place at night, when sharks are more active.

Nighttime Fishing

Many anglers rise with the sun to head out for the day. If you’re not an early riser, or you have other daytime-only plans, ask about night fishing in Rosemary Beach. Some companies offer special after-dark excursions, where you may come home with redfish or speckled trout for the next day’s lunch or dinner, but with the different time, you can never be sure what will be biting.

Family Fishing

Many charter companies offer packages especially for families or groups with young children. These guided tours often supply all the bait, tackle, and equipment you need, and are captained by skippers that make the day fun, exciting (and maybe a little educational) for children while making sure everyone has a good time. Call before you book, as some may have age limitations or special instructions for child safety.
